Food for Friday, Special Edition – Eggnog Latte
Eggnog lattes are an excellent way to use up any leftover eggnog that you have hanging around in the fridge after you make your eggnog cheesecake bars. They are certainly a delicious way to enjoy your coffee over the holiday season.
One simple way of adding some eggnog to your morning (or afternoon) caffeine break is to simply replace the milk or cream in your coffee with eggnog. Personally, I like a bit of extra kick, so I make mine Italian style with a stove top espresso maker. You can make yours the same way or with an espresso machine or with espresso from your single cup, counter top brewing system.
Eggnog Latte
by Rebecca (it’s my own recipe)
Yeild: 1 – 10 oz beverage.
Double, triple, or Quintuple as necessary
Ingredients:
espresso
eggnog
milk
nutmeg, optional
Directions:
Combine 3/4 cup of eggnog with 1/4 cup milk. Heat or steam the milk in a pot on the stove or do what I do and microwave it in a glass measuring cup. In the microwave, it should take about 1 minute and 45 seconds on High. On the stove, keep it at a medium heat for around 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare your espresso in a stove-top maker, in your fancy espresso machine, or in your single-cup brewer.
Pour the espresso into a cup. Pour the steamed eggnog/milk mixture over the espresso. If you so choose, dust a bit of ground nutmeg on the top.
Enjoy!
