Taking a Break – Ontario Staycation #kindermom
My recuperation from the holidays has taken a lot longer this year than ever before. A number of factors played into the chaos including this being our first Christmas with A.C. where I was working, family visiting, JAMS accident, and Grandma passing away. I was exhausted by mid January and feeling a little burnt out. We have been able to have a couple of low key weekends to recover, and now I can look forward to the light at the end of the tunnel… My March Vacation!
A.C. is still too young to have “March Break”, but I have a few vacation days stored up that I need to use before the end of March so we are making our own March Vacation. Originally the plan was to travel to the Caribbean to a warm tropical paradise with two other families. Disappointingly that trip had to be postponed as the other families could not make it, so instead we are coming up with some fun activities to do close to home.
JAM and I both enjoy visiting Niagara Falls, we used to go for a visit yearly back in our dating days. But we have not visited the area since the year before we got married! Here is a picture of us from back in our dating days – When we visited Niagara Falls to celebrate my 20th birthday. I think it is time to get back to the area, but this it will be a little different as we will be traveling as a family. It will be our first family vacation, and I am pretty excited. First thing is to book the accommodations – I wanted something family friendly and “easy” – we are thinking of staying at the Great Wolf Lodge. I have only ever heard wonderful things about this resort, and what could be more fun than an indoor water park in the winter? I checked out their website and it looks like they have great activities for every age, including toddlers.
While we are there we will of course visit Niagara Falls, and maybe head to the butterfly conservatory as well. We will see if we also have time for a little side trip to Niagara-on-the-lake, I love checking out the great little shops that they have.
I am looking forward to planning this trip, and enjoying a little break away from our regular routine. Are you taking a March vacation? Will you be sticking around home or traveling?

Have a FANTASTIC Vacation, You deserve it!
Niagara Falls is awesome. GWL is amazing, but $$$, hope you have fun!
I have heard that GWL can be expensive, but since we are not heading to Mexico I don't mind spending a little more for a vacation near home
I have always wanted to go to Niagra and the butterfly conservatory sounds awesome
We haven't been to Niagara Falls in almost seven years, before we had kids. It's been way too long, have an amazing time!
I have never been to Niagara Falls but it looks amazing and would love to go some day!
What an awesome trip! Taking time out to travel and enjoy life is so important! Have a great time!
A staycation can often be the best vacation. I know there are so many places in my community that still need to be discovered. Thanks for the inspiration!
We love Niagara, great trip!
i love visiting Niagara Falls! We go every couple months-ish.
We looooove Niagara Falls! I used to visit more often when I lived in Toronto. Great place to have a mini-vacation close to home
Congrats on being a #KinderMom!
Thanks Christine. JAM and I used to go more often to, but as you get older everything gets busier…
Great idea, we are heading to Niagara Falls this summer for a mini-vacation!
Have an awesome time!
Wish I could go to Niagara! Enjoy!
If you end up going to GWL, we'd love to join you for a day or two!!
We love Niagara. I was there just a few weeks ago with the hubs! Great time had as always!
That is awesome, glad to hear you had a fun time!
I went to Niagra Falls when I was 16 and I'd love to go back. I've heard nothing but good things about Great Wolf Lodge. Given the year you've had, a staycation is probably a good idea. close to home and more relaxing.
It will be great to have a little bit of time to relax and unwind!
Going on vacation for the first time is awesome! You will love it!
