My #BlogHer12 Tips

Jul 30, 2012 by

Well BlogHer12 is less than 1 week away!!!  And although this will be my first time attending a BlogHer Conference I have attended Canadian Blogging conferences in the past and thought I would put together a list of tips to make the conference experience a little easier.  Here is what I have learned in the past about attending blogging conferences:
Drink Lots – Now this might seem weird coming from me given that I am expecting.  But I am not talking about alcoholic beverages here (although if you can, enjoy one for me!), I am talking about staying hydrated.  It is easy to forget to keep yourself hydrated when running from session to session, trying to meet up with friends, and get ready for the next event.  I will be making sure to have a water bottle with me at all times to try to help beat the NYC summer heat.
Snacks – Just like it is easy to forget to stay hydrated, busy days can mean skipped meals.  I will be packing a couple of boxes of granola bars and snacks so that I can easily grab a snack on the go to help keep my energy up all day long.  (No one likes a cranky hungry pregnant lady!)
Shoes – This is all about the comfort, I be bringing 3 pairs of shoes with me – Runners, flats and one pair of low heels.  With all of the standing and walking you do at a conference and social events the last thing you want to be worrying about is how much your feet hurt.
Remember a pen & paper – There are times when what you need is “back to basics” pen and paper over your cell phone or ipad.  Make sure you toss a small note pad and pen in your bag so you are not trying to scrounge for one at a moments notice.
Taking some time for YOU – Remember to take time to ENJOY yourself, and do some of the things you really want to do. This conference is about getting the most out of it for yourself.  So you don’t need to follow the crowd, have a session you want to attend, but don’t know anyone else going, who cares do it for yourself not anyone else.  For me, taking some time for myself means flying in a day early to NYC so I get some time to see the sights and have a bit of time to relax, and taking the conference at a bit of a slower pace than some people and making sure I get my sleep.
I am really looking forward to seeing some of you at BlogHer, and sharing what I learn along the way!

And of course, a post about BlogHer would not be complete without thanking the businesses that are helping make my dream a reality.  A special thank you to SnuggleBugz, Greenmunch, Ddrops, and Baby on Board Apparel for their generous support.
