My First Trip to NYC

Aug 21, 2012 by

One of the draws of attending the BlogHer conference for me, was the location it was being held… New York City.  I had never been to NYC before, but have had many friends rave about the city.  Heck, even my baby sister has been to NYC of a school trip!  BlogHer was the perfect chance to attend a conference I really wanted to go to while exploring a city that was on my “Must Travel To” list.  And I have to say that NYC did not disappoint!
My first day in NYC was a little rainy, but that did not stop us sporting some very stylish ponchos and hopping on a Gray Line New York Double Decker Bus Tour of NYC.  The first tour I did was the Night Tour which was the perfect way to get a quick overview of the city and get a chance to take in the Manhattan Skyline.  Even if the weather did not cooperate in the beginning, it paid off in the end with a beautiful sun set.

I upgraded my complimentary Grayline tour pass so that I could go on additional tours that the company offers.  Day 2 in NYC was bright and sunny, and perfect for hopping back on the bus and doing the downtown loop tour.  This tour did cover some of the same areas as the night tour but also offered stops at many additional locations.  This time we were able to stop by the World Trade Center Site and Battery Park.
Days 3 & 4 were spent mostly on conference activities, with a few short outings to do some shopping.  I was VERY well behaved and didn’t buy too much.  Just one shirt at the Disney store for A.C. and some chocolates from the herseys store (those didn’t last long).  The one store I wanted to go to that I didn’t get a chance was Macy’s, but there is always my next trip to NYC right?
I spent the morning on Day 5 exploring Central Park and FAO Swartz, before it was time to head to the airport to catch our flight home.  I was really impressed with the service from Porter Airlines, and greatly appreciated they were able to get us on a earlier flight home before some bad storms hit later in the evening.

Overall I had a GREAT time in NYC and can’t wait until I can go back again to explore even more of the city.  Have you been to NYC before?  What is your favorite part?

And of course, a post about BlogHer would not be complete without a shout out to my amazing sponsors.  A special thank you to SnuggleBugz, Greenmunch, Ddrops, and Baby on Board Apparel for their generous support.
