Now that I am over the half way mark in my second pregnancy, I thought I would share some of my thoughts on the differences between first vs second pregnancies. I was not so sure that there would be much difference between baby #1 and Baby #2 but there totally is…
First – You order books on multiple books on pregnancy and what to eat when expecting, and use post its to mark the important pages
Second – Who has time for reading anything other than children’s books to your toddler?
First – Followed all of the “rules” of what to eat during pregnancy, made sure to take prenatal vitamin daily
Second – You eat whatever is available, which might just be the leftovers off your toddlers plate. Cooking just does not get the same priority anymore. And did I take my vitamin today? Or was that yesterday?
First – Yay! I am starting to show, lets go out and buy a whole new wardrobe!
Second – Crap, how am I starting to show ALREADY, at only 8 weeks?!? Everyone is going know early this time around I guess. Time to try to dig up the maternity clothes from the basement.
First – You get all of the blood work and ultrasounds done as soon as you are able to. You want to make sure everything is perfect and have the results to your doctor ASAP
Second – Crap! I forgot I HAVE to get that blood work done this week, and when do we have that ultrasound booked for again?
First – Went to the gym twice a week, took prenatal yoga to make sure your body is in top shape for labour & delivery
Second – Running after a toddler is good exercise right?!? Who has time (or energy!!!) for the gym?
First – “I am 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant, or 5 months.” You get the weekly emails updating you on your pregnancy milestones and know exactly what stage your baby is developing at (and what size fruit they resemble)
Second – “I am due sometime in November, how far along does that make me?”
Can you relate? How did your second pregnancy differ from your first?
