You know the saying – “Never say Never”. Be careful, you don’t know when the words you say will come back to bite you. Well I can be pretty opinionated at times (shhh don’t tell my family) and have over the years declared things that I would NEVER do. Some I have kept – for example I will NEVER wear leggings as pants, they are leggings designed to go under a dress or very long shirt, not to be worn on their own. And there are some things I may have had to back track on a little bit. While I may be opinionated I can also admit when I am wrong… So here I sit eating my humble pie and remembering to Never say Never! Here are my “take backs” as of late:
I will NEVER run through Union Station trying to catch a train – as said my by early 20’s self. I would travel to Toronto to visit Hubs back when we were both in first year university. Union station used to always be our meeting point and I remember being puzzled at why so many people were running to catch there train. Why not just wait for the next one that was 20-30 minute later instead of running like a mad man zig sagging through the crowds. HA! Oh the comments you come with when you have so few commitments and responsibilities!!! Now I AM one of the people running for the train, and hopping of board with seconds to spare almost EVERY day – running to get to my car, to get to day care and then finally home to start dinner. From the time I leave work there is pretty much no time that I stop running until I go to bed. Oh 20 yr old me, if you only knew how good you had it back then
I will NEVER own minivan – hmmm well unless we are putting baby #3 on the roof rack I guess we are shopping for a new vehicle. Our 5 seater SUV is not going to cut it with 3 car seats in the back. So what are my options? A 7-seater SUV of which most are outside of our budget, or the family friendly roomy and economical minivan. Guess this mama is just going to have to suck it up for a few years, and become a minivan mom.
I will NEVER have 2 children in diapers, and having 2 kids under 2 is CRAZY – You think someone with 2 university degrees could do the math, but nope we messed this one up with the arrival of baby #3 expected 2 months before Little Bear turns 2. I have no real hope of having Little Bear potty trained by that point either. 2 for 2 on this one… So in the fall when I am incoherent and sleep deprived it is because I broke my own rules, and am spending my days and nights feeding kids and changing diapers. Sorry in advance.
What are some of your NEVERS that you find yourself taking back now that you are older and wiser?
