Who else notices that there is a direct correlation between the temperature outside and how busy their weekends get? As soon as spring arrives and the weather gets warmer I can see my calendar filling up before my eyes. Family gatherings, BBQs, community events… so many fun activities to take part in over the next few months. This weekend will be no exception with the Made By Hand Show and the Great Cloth Diaper Change are happening on April 20, 2013.
The Made By Hand Show is one of my favorite “craft show” that showcases Canadian artists, artisans and designers. This one day show takes place at the International Centre in Mississauga (free parking!) and offers a great range of HANDMADE items. Admission is $5. Vendors from all areas including bath & body product, jewelery, knitting, clothing, wood working and pottery all come together under one roof for a great shopping experience. This will be my 3rd time attending, and I am looking forward to doing some shopping for birthdays that are coming up over the next few months. I need to warn you though – watch out for the food vendors – they are amazing. I always leave with a sweet treat (or 5) and a few sauces and jams as well. I love being able to support Canadian small businesses, and the Made By Hand Show makes it easy to do just that.
For the THIRD year in a row I will be taking part in the Great Cloth Diaper Change. You know I love my cloth diapers and I am excited that Little Bear will be talk part this year for the first time. This is an annual event that works to raise awareness of cloth diapers, have a little fun, and set a Guinness World Record for Cloth Diaper Changes at one time. In 2012 there were 8,251 cloth diaper changes at 189 locations on 4 continents all at the same time! Again there events taking place all across the world and several local events including:
- Toronto – Hosted By Green Moms Collective, My Lil Sweet Pea & Change Matt
- Toronto Beaches
- Richmond Hill – Hosted by So Green Baby
- Oshawa – Hosted by Funky Fluff, Take a walk on the Green Side
So if you are a cloth diapering mama, or want to learn more about cloth, make sure you check out these events or see if there is one in your area.
Phew, it is going to be a busy but fun weekend. And this is only the beginning of our “busy season”. Do yo have any fun events coming up over the spring or summer?
