Did you go through a phase where it seem like everyone was getting married? It felt like every time I turned around I was going to another engagement party, buck & doe, bridal shower or wedding. Man that was an expensive, but fun time! Then we moved on to the baby phase. You know when everyone is swapping stories about pregnancy symptoms and guesses of “boy or girl” fill conversation. This is followed by baby showers, play dates and birthday parties! And just when you think you are free of tiny babies, someone decides to go back and start all over again with baby #2. I am pretty sure that we are winding down as our all of friends houses are overflowing with kids, toys and all the gear that goes with them. Well I should correct myself… almost all.
With 1 in 6 couples experiencing infertility, we all know someone who has struggled to create a family (even if they may not have shared their story publicly or not). We we get together with our circle of friends for dinner, most of us spend 75% of the time chasing after our kids, making sure they don’t get into trouble or trying to get the to eat. However there is one couple who actually arrives on time, can stay late, and will actually be able to eat dinner while it is still hot. It would be easy to be jealous of the freedom they have as a childless couple, but in fact it is them who are jealous of us. So far their efforts to become pregnant have been unsuccessful. So we watch, wait and wonder. Will this be the dinner party where they announce the exciting news? An unexpected phone call from them automatically gets my mind racing, that maybe this time they will have happy news to share. That they too will finally see the much anticipated 2 pink lines.
While there are infertility treatments out there they can be cost-prohibitive and carry risks such as multiple pregnancy. The Stork is a recent addition to the Canadian market place to help couples in their attempts to create a family. It is a Health Canada approved single use medical device designed to help couples increase their chances of conceiving in the privacy of their own home without the use of pharmaceutical intervention based on the proven technique of cervical cap insemination. This technique has shown success rates comparable to IUI’s. The Stork may be a good option for couples who are struggling to conceive before trying other expensive assisted reproductive treatments (it is always a good idea to consult your doctor first before making healthcare decisions).
The Stork is available online and at many pharmacies without a prescription. To find out how it works and for more information you can visit The Stork website. You can also enter Influence Central’s The Stork Social Engagement Contest for your chance to win a “Night Out For 2” valued at $500!
