“Mommy I want a snowboard” – words I did not expect from Monkey, my 4 year old son, but that is exactly what he has been asking for the past few weeks. I think Monkey is getting excited about winter coming soon. And why shouldn’t he be excited? Living in Canada we can embrace winter and all it has to offer including getting outside for some family fun time. That is just what the Toronto Snow Show celebrates – focused on skiing, snowboarding and winter time travel it is the perfect place to get inspired, get educated and do some shopping just in time for winter.
While my parents were not really into skiing, I was lucky enough to have some Aunts & Uncles who enjoyed hitting the slopes and didn’t mind having an extra tag along at the ski hills. Not only did I get to have a blast skiing with my cousins, but it also prepared me to go on my grade 7 & 8 ski trips to Quebec City which are still one of my all time favourite vacations. While Monkey might not be ready to hit the hills by himself just yet I am looking forward to getting outdoors as a family this winter and introducing him to some of our wintertime sports. You never know, maybe he will be getting his own snowboard sooner rather then later!
The Toronto Snow Show is the perfect venue to explore winter time adventure options and shop for equipment all in one place. This 4 day show features an impressive list of exhibitors who will be showcasing their best deals and newest equipment. You can also watch pro and amateur snowboarders and skiers take to the Rail Jam to show off their skills, or take part in Canada’s biggest ski and snowboard swap as part of the show.
I am looking forward to taking Monkey to the Burton Riglet Park, a miniature terrain-based snowboard park that allows young snowboarders to try out what it is like to hit the hills. It will be fun to have him try out snowboarding, even if it is indoors so he see what it is like.
