7 Tips To Get Your Car Ready For Summer
2 Oil Up – Check your oil, you want to look at not only the level but also the color. If the color of the oil is still amber then you just need to top it up to the fill mark. However if it is getting black in color it’s definitely time for an oil change. Check your owner’s manual for your vehicle to see how often you should be doing oil changes for your car or truck.
3 Cool Off – To make sure you don’t run into any issues with engine overheating during the hot summer months make sure you check your cooling system. You should change your coolant fluid at regular intervals according to your owner’s manual. The coolant fluid should not be cloudy and may need to be top top if it is low.
4 Get under the hood – You probably haven’t cracked open the hood of your car all winter, and who can blame you no one wants to be out in the snow and cold. But now that the weather is warming up it is time to give your car a quick inspection and to check the battery for any corrosion around the battery terminals. It is also a good time to replace air filters to help your engine run efficiently.
5 Light It Up -Take a moment to check all of the exterior lights to make sure they are still working. It is never fun to get a ticket for a burnt out bulb. Grab a partner to watch as you test the brake lights and your indicator lights to make sure they don’t need to be replaced.
6 Let’s Get Cool – Now is the time to give your air conditioning a quick test because you don’t want to find out on a sweltering day that your A/C is not working. Run your A/C for a few minutes to see if it still blows cold air. If it’s not take your car in to be inspected to see if there is a leak in the system.
7 Looking Pretty – Make sure your car is looking its best on the outside as well period start with an e inspection of your windshield wipers. With the snow and ice from Winter they may have sustained some damage and you don’t want to find out that they are not working properly during a summer rainstorm. If you find that they are worn or torn it’s time to replace them. Give your vehicle a nice watch and don’t forget the wheel wells and underbody to get rid of the salt and dirt build-up from the winter.
