I would not consider myself the most stylish mama. I mean, I think I do OK at putting together outfits, but you are not going to find me on the front of GLAM magazine any time soon! Once you have kids style often takes a back seat to play dates and chauffeuring your kids around. All things that Jessica Mulroney, mom to 2-year old twins with husband and entertainment TV host Ben Mulroney, understands well.
Jessica was named one of Canada’s Best Dressed by HELLO! Magazine and is known for her work as a fashion & style curator and luxury label expert. As she navigates everything from park play dates to society functions she does so with classic elegance and relatable charm.
Jessica shares a few of her fashion and beauty tips on how to “save your style sanity” as a busy mom whether you’re just running to the grocery store or indulging in a kids-free night out:
1. Beauty: Play up your favourite feature, i.e. find your perfect lipstick, swipe on a long-lasting mascara; Concealer and blush are a mom’s best friend; Highlighter draws attention to the places you want people to look
For me I try to play up my lips (I am not very good at eye make up, so I work with what I have!). I love the look of glossy lips.
2. The secret to looking stylish is happiness. It’s cliché, but true: You’re never fully dressed without a smile! I always keep chocolate in my purse because nothing makes me happier than indulging in a sweet treat. My new favourite is the new Skinny Cow Dreamy Cluster Milk Chocolate – just 120 calories and the right size to satisfy my chocolate craving!
Smiles make a huge difference in the way you look, and our outlook on the day. And as a self professed chocoholic I can attest that the Skinny Cow Dreamy Cluster Milk Chocolate puts a smile on my face every time!
3. Fashion: Invest in the classics; De-stress the act of choosing what to wear by coordinating your wardrobe so that you can mix and match with ease
I tend to buy a dark pants and skirts that will go with any top – perfect for getting dressed quickly before work.
