When did it become the normal to be so very busy? These days, it seems as though we are all expected to be in five places at once and juggle the weight of the world. As Mom’s we keep track of everything and everyone while making it look easy – and there just simply aren’t enough hours in a day to get everything done. 2016 is a leap year, I challenge you to take advantage of the extra day! Why not try something you’ve never done before as a family? Enjoy your time together by embracing the our lovely winter with some fun family friendly activities. Here are some family fun ideas for you to do with your “extra” 24 hours:
Grab your skates: Nothing says good old Canada like grabbing your skates and heading outside! Head to an outdoor skating rink, or enjoy a fun game of hockey. You can play or watch!
Go snowshoeing: Chances are, you’re not too far from a national park or scenic trail that is optimal for snowshoeing since our great land has so many of them! Snowshoes are often available to rent from national parks or adventure stores so you don’t have to invest a great deal. This is an amazing way to have fun as a family while getting a ton of exercise!
Build a snowman or snow family: Who wants to build a snowman? It’s likely that there are ample amounts of snow not too far away – or even in your own backyard. Building a snowman is a simple and fun cold-day activity. It is very easy to get the whole family involved in some aspect from picking out hats, and sticks, to helping to roll the balls!
Visit somewhere new: We are very fortunate to live in a country brimming with amazing winter destinations featuring everything from scenic ski resorts to lively festivals. Take a drive to that park you wanted to check out. Or go for something bigger like skating on Ottawa’s Rideau Canal or visiting the Northwest Territories to take in the northern lights. Find something your family will enjoy and will remember for years to come.
Go to the Zoo: Did you know that many zoos are open all year round! Visiting the Toronto Zoo is a perfect family activity during the winter months. You can see animals enjoying the snow outside, and take in the may exhibits that are located inside the pavilions if you want to be inside for a bit. Watching the Polar Bears play in the snow, is one of the cutest things you will see.
Kids seem to be always on the go, and have boundless energy. It is hard to keep up with them sometimes during a day of adventure – and is often tougher the next day when those aches and pains set in, especially as we get older. Topical pain relievers like RUB·A535™ Extra Strength Heating Cream have you covered to provide fast acting pain relief of muscle and joint pain when you have done “a little too much”.
Embrace the extra day we get in 2016 to try something new. Try something different and exciting and break up the monotonous schedules we adhere to when juggling work and family. Plus getting outside is also great for your health! So tell me, how will you be spending your extra 24 hours this year??? (and please don’t say cleaning the house, because I know that is on all of our to do lists too)
