Who is ready to feast with Kings and be enchanted by tournament like no other??? Step back in time and enjoy the spectacle of Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Toronto. Recently I had the opportunity to take my family to the show, I was not sure what to expect as I had never been before. I have to say we ALL had an amazing time! From the moment you step into the “Castle” you are transported to a whole new world. Greeted by the King and his daughter you are treated like royalty yourselves. Everyone who enters is given a crown in the colours of the knight you will be cheering for, we were proud members of the Black & White team for our show. Prior to being invited into the arena you are able to enjoy and gather in the great hall. You can watch the horses as they are prepared for battle, or if you are lucky you may even see a knighting ceremony taking place. You will be summoned to your seat when it is time for the feast and tournament to start. Once seated you will meet your wench who will take care of anything you need during the show. I have to say the staff at Medieval Times was amazing. Not only were they friendly, but they also had great energy to get the whole crowd geared up for the show.Once the show began we were treated to the delights of a an adventure like no other. From breathtaking horsemanship and a high flying flight of the Royal falcon to watching exhilarating tournament games and thrilling battles Medieval Times will have you on the edge of your seat for the whole show. I don’t think my boys ever took their eyes off the knights even for a second.
At 3 years old Monkey was able to follow the majority of the story line and he loved watching the horses. Little Bear also enjoyed the show and sat clapping his hands for the majority of the time as the tournament went on. Towards the end of the show there is a jousting tournament with battles with swords and axes. A quick explanation that this was a show and that everyone would be OK was all that was needed to reassure Monkey who got back to cheering for the Black & White Knight.
While the tournament is taking place we feasted on a 3 course meal that was fit for a King. Honestly I was not expecting much in terms of the food, we were really there for the show right? Wrong! Dinner was tasty and hot, and everyone dug right in (with your hands of course!). Hubs was thrilled with the meal as the portion sizes were large enough to satisfy him too, chicken and ribs… he was in heaven.
There were lots of photo opportunities before and after the show, as well as lots of merchandise and souvenirs, if you are inclined to purchase that sort of thing. If it is not in the budget, you may want to have a quick chat with the kids before heading to the show to try to stem the “I want…”. Even after the show ends the fun once again continues in the great hall where you can meet all of the knights from the show. As a family we had a great time at Medieval Times and I would be happy to take the boys to the show again.
