I remember back to my pre-kid days, back when you know everything about parenting without actually have ever done it. Looking at all the new baby gear that was on the market now compared to when my little sister was a baby in the mid 90’s and thinking “Why do parents need all this stuff?!?” At the time I couldn’t imagine why you would need a video monitor, after all my parents seemed to do just fine without one. And then….. I had my own baby.
It is amazing how your perspective changes once you actually try something for yourself rather then just assuming you know what you are talking about. From the day we brought Monkey home from the hospital he was a NOISY sleeper. I have never heard a baby heard a baby make so many different noises in their sleep before. I was so thankful for our video baby monitor as it allowed me to get a peek at him without having to try to sneak into his room and saved me countless trips up and down the stairs. It was easy to tell if he was just sleep babbling or if he was actually awake and needed me.
Now that Monkey and Little Bear are 4 and almost 2 years old it is still extremely handy to have a video monitor, but the feature I use even more these days is the 2-way talk back function. Little Bear will often stand up in his crib before falling asleep, talking to him thought the monitor ans saying a quick “Shhhhhh lay back down” will have him laying back down and going to sleep. Without the video monitor I would not know what he was up to and have to go into the room to try to get him to settle back down again.
A video baby monitor has made many aspects of parenting much easier so I was excited to be able to try out the Snuza Trio Plus – Portable Baby Video, Sound and Movement Monitor. This PTPA approved baby monitor has all the features I look for in a video baby monitor including:
- 3.5″ LCD Screen
- 2-way Talkback function – Easy to let your little one know they are not alone, or even talk to you partner if they are tending to the baby
- Infrared night vision with automatic activation – No need to play around with settings on the monitor when the room goes from light to dark
- Expandable up to 4 cameras – great for when you have more than 1 child or play area, all of the cameras feed into 1 base unit. This is a monitor that can grow along with your family
- Motorized pan-tilt camera function – from monitor you are able to move the camera from side to side and up and down. Perfect for using 1 camera in the room my boys share, or to track down little ones once they are out of the crib and able to move around their rooms themselves
