The cost of having a family adds up quick – from buying new clothes as the kids outgrow everything so quickly to putting food on the table. Every time I walk out the door it seems like I am spending money, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching! Trying to keep more of that money in my bank account can be difficult, but since Target Canada arrived just over a year ago it has been a little easier. Here is how I saved $75 at Target Canada: I shopped.
That is right, I spent money to save money… how do you ask??? With my REDcard! When target first opened I applied for a Target REDcard debit card online, it arrived at my doorstep a few weeks later and I haven’t looked back. Now EVERYTIME I shop at Target and use my REDcard debit card to pay I save an extra 5% – that is on top of sales, in addition to coupons and price matching.
Heck even when I have stopped in to pick up milk when we run out, saved another 5%. And it all adds up. Over the past year I have saved an extra $75 – all because when I check out I pull out the REDcard debit card from my wallet instead of my regular debit card.
Here is what you need to know about the Target REDcard:
- Target REDcard offers the option of a credit card OR debit card – I didn’t want another credit card, so the debit option was a better fit for me
- Target REDcard debit card connects to ANY bank account – You connect your REDcard to your existing bank account, doesn’t matter who you bank with it will link together and work just like your bank debit card when shopping at Target
- Apply in-store or online – I applied online so that I could get my banking information from home to link up my account, but you can also apply in-store at the computers right by the customer service desk
When you are checking out they will give you the total of your purchase, but as soon as you swipe your REDcard on the payment machine, it will deduct your 5% savings. Easy peasy. And right now NEW REDcard holders get a one-time coupon for an additional 5% off if you sign up before November 10, 2014. It is the perfect time for you to registered and cash in on these extra savings as well.
And as if that was not enough, Target Canada is offering EVERYONE a 10% off coupon for October 25-26, 2014. Just print out your coupon and then head into the store to shop and save.
To celebrate my REDcard savings Hubs and I are going to go out for dinner tonight. Because if I can save money on the things I need to buy anyways, I deserve a little treat wouldn’t you agree? What would you spend your REDcard savings on?
