Black socks, they never get dirty,
The more that you wear them, the blacker they get
Sometimes I think I should wash them
But something keep telling me no, no,
Not yet, not yet, not yet, not yet.
Camp songs are the BEST songs, and singing them brings back wonderful memories of fun adventures with friends. I attended many summer camps as a kid, mostly day camps but also some over night ones as well, and they were all so much fun. A little adventure and independence mixed in with songs, crafts and cooking! Here are a few pictures from almost 20 years ago at Doe Lake Girl Guide Camp. I will never forget the fun we had that week taking hikes, swimming and doing mini “spa” treatments.
The boys are too young for summer camps yet, but I know it is something we will look into once they are ready so that they can make their own memories! This video from Muskoka Woods Cristian Summer Camp really sums up what camp means to me as well, take a look:
Attending summer camp allowed me to do things I never would have been able to otherwise. While I was nervous about being away for a week, it was such an amazing experience I wanted to do it again the next year! Muskoka Woods summer camp offers overnight camps for children as young as 7 and teens. While at the camp they can take part in many activities including swimming, tennis canoeing, hiking, and of course having a camp fire! And don’t worry about if they will have enough food to eat, buffet meals 3 times a day plus snacks will be sure to keep the kids full so they will have lots of energy to play! You can visit the Muskoka Woods summer camp website to learn more and to register for camp.
For now, until the boys are old enough to actually attend camp I will keep teaching them all the fun and silly camp songs I learned as a child!
Make new friends, but keep the old
One is silver, and the other’s gold.
A circle is round that never ends,
And that’s how long I’m gonna be your friend.
