Mother’s Day is fast approaching. Every year it seems like the past year has just flown by. Now that I am a mother myself I truly appreciate Mother’s Day and I have been going out of my way the last few years to make them extra special for my mom. My daughter and I usually create something special to give her as a Grandmother/Mother’s Day gift. But with busy lives and a lower budget it can be hard to fit the perfect gift.
I have gone the DIY route, but that takes a lot of time – more time than I have this year. So, I have decided I am going semi-DIY. I am going to purchase something but add that personal touch.
I am very excited for the gift I am giving this year. I know Mom will love it and I am sure she is happy she isn’t going to have to wear yet another macaroni necklace (my daughter rocks at making those).
3 Semi-DIY Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
All of the ‘base’ products can be found at Hallmark. Also pick up a card while you are there. I love one stop shopping.
I love one stop shopping.
Mom Book – Hallmark has amazing journals where you can put memories, quotes, photos and stories. Writing a few memories into the ‘mom’ book and gifting it to your mother will surely bring some tears to her eyes. I like to leave pages blank so you can continue to add stories throughout the year.
Home Pillow – I love this Home pillow. Plus it matches my mom’s decor. I am going to grab some fabric paint and get my daughter to put her handprints on the back. It’s a great way to personalize the pillow without having to do any of the sewing. At $19.95 it is also a budget-conscious gift.
Birdcage Memory Keeper – Turn a birdcage into a memory keeper. Grab bright coloured paper that matches your mom’s decor and cut the sheets into smaller squares. On each square write a memory, story or even have the kid’s draw. You can get creative with what goes on the paper. If you have brothers/sisters this would be a great gift to give together. Each sibling could have their own colour so mom would know who each memory is from. Birdcage Lanterns are only $17.95 with any purchase (you need to get a card anyways). You can also leave the flame-less candle in the birdcage and layer the notes along the bottom as a nest. Or you can remove the candle and gift separately (I won’t tell).
Take the stress out of Mother’s Day and semi-DIY your gift. Mom will love the thought behind the gift.
