I am currently expecting Baby #3, you can follow along on “The Bump Watch” as I make my way through the highs and lows of pregnancy
Week 12 – Just like when I was pregnant with Monkey, as I reached the 12 week “milestone” I started spotting with this pregnancy… ugh… As much as I *know* that spotting can be normal in pregnancy, I don’t think that there is a woman out there that doesn’t panic when it happens. As much as I tried to keep calm and not let it bother me the worry was always still there. However hearing the baby’s heart beat at an appointment with my family doctor helped put my mind at ease, at least a little bit.
Week 13 – Ugh, I am sick sick SICK this week with an extremely sore throat, I can barely eat and am surviving on tea. To top it off the spotting is still kicking around, just to keep my worry lever up. I headed to the walk-in clinic and the doctor said my sore throat is likely a virus not Strep throat. They also sent me to get an ultrasound to check on the spotting since it has been around for over a week. It was nice to peek in on baby again and to find out what is actually going on in there. The diagnosis: a subchorionic hemorrhage just like I had with Monkey. I would like to say that this put my mind at ease, but instead it it raises my anxiety level – what if it was the subchorionic hemorrhage that contributed to Monkey’s prematurity? Will this increase the risk of this baby being a preemie too?
Week 14 – Finally eating and drinking again after that killer virus that I had last week. Tea, soup and crackers diet is not one I would recommend. Still having the occasional spotting, I am SO over this. Just want to be able to feel like I can get excited over this pregnancy and not worry so much. But who am I kidding, Moms always worry…
Week 15 – Time to do the clothing switch over and pack up all my “regular” clothes and break out the maternity clothes. I had been able to get away with wearing some of my more stretchy clothes, but it won’t last much longer. I took the opportunity on the weekend to pack up all the clothes I won’t be needing for a long while and bringing out the maternity wear. It is time to embrace “The Bump”, it is only going to get bigger.
Week 16 – Finally feeling like I might be getting over the nausea that I have been battling the last few weeks. I didn’t have any nausea at the start of the pregnancy, but weeks 11-15 have not been so great. I had 4 days in a row where I didn’t throw up this week, so I would call that a win!
