Some toys are “Hits” others are “Misses” with kids. It can be hard to guess which toys for toddlers they will love. I thought (and hoped) that Monkey would really like hand puppets. Great for imaginary play, no batteries required, and as quiet or loud as you make them. Instead the puppets sit neglected in bin in our living room waiting for the day they will be brought to life through play.
What is a BIG hit around our house – anything with cars. Ever since Monkey watched the movie Cars he had been hooked on anything that can “go faster”. We have a play set a lot like the VTech Baby Toot-toot Driver Garage and it is getting a good workout these days with cars zooming down the ramp and then taking a ride back up the elevator to do it all over again. And don’t forget to stop to fill up with gas at the gas pump! I know soon enough BOTH of my boys will be racing cars down the ramp to see which one is the fastest!
My Aunt and Uncle treat Monkey and Little Bear as if they were their own Grandchildren. They spoil them (and us) like crazy, and it seems every time we go for a visit to their house there is a new toy for the kids to play with. One of the recent additions is the VTech Sit to Stand Tower. Nothing is more fun than watching Monkey and my aunt singing into the microphone to kids songs. It is the stuff great childhood memories are made of. Monkey beats to his own drummer and doesn’t really follow the games and commands you can do with this toy, but he has a blast playing his own way.
What toys did your kids love as toddlers??
