We are very lucky in Canada to have 1 year of maternity leave when you have a baby. It is an amazing time of bonding, learning how to be a parent, and watching your little one grow before your eyes. One of the things I worried about before going on maternity leave was what I was going to DO with my time. I know you are busy caring for the baby, but I knew I would need a little something more – getting out of the house and some adult friendship. I could not imagine staying home all day long day after day, it would have drove me crazy.
So once we were over the early days of sleep deprivation and settling into a bit of a routine we quickly found the huge variety of activities that are out there for new moms to participate in. From Mom & Tot play groups to Baby Sweat & Sculpt at the gym, A.C. and I did them all. It was great to get out of the house and to meet other moms in our community.
Empire Theaters offers another great program geared towards new parents – Empire Reel Babies
The perfect way to get out for an afternoon to enjoy a new release movie in a baby friendly environment. What makes it baby friendly?
- Lights are kept on dim so you can enjoy the movie but still see what you are doing
- Volume is lowered protecting little ears
- Each theater is equipped with change table, play mat and swing
Heading out for a relaxing afternoon at the movies is a perfect way to get out of the house during the cold dull winter days.
For the month of February Empire Reel Babies is offering Bring a Friend for Free! Buy one admission to Empire Reel Babies and get a second free. Sounds like a perfect way to get out with a girlfriend (or even your hubby!) for a fun afternoon out.
You can find all the details on locations, times and movie offerings on the Reel Babies website. This program is offered at select Empire theaters across Canada – make sure to check out their website to see if your local theater offers this awesome program!
Oh, and don’t forget the popcorn! Everyone deserves a treat of movie theater popcorn now and then. What is your favorite snack from the movie concession stand?
